We are the DFTA -Dundee Federation of Tenants’ Associations, and we are here to represent Dundee Council tenants. We cover the whole of Dundee and we have a legacy of over 30 years of working together to help tenants. Our Executive Committee is made up of tenant volunteers, some of whom are also part of local tenant groups, and we also have independent members as well.
We work closely in a partnership based on mutual trust and respect with a wide range of Dundee City Council staff including senior management, as well as elected members, in order to do this. We also at times work with other outside agencies.
We support tenants’ groups as well as individual tenants with a huge range of issues- for example repairs and maintenance issues, advice on recycling, anti-social behaviour problems.
We have continued to work through lockdown via meeting regularly online, and we have supported our tenants in the following ways:- referrals for emergency food packs/ supermarket/ pharmacy delivery, help with utility bills, help for energy efficiency and fuel poverty, road safety, major and minor repairs, neighbour disputes, communal space ideas, rubbish and recycling issues and many other matters.
Our purpose is to promote council tenants’ rights and the improvement of housing conditions, amenities and the local environment in our communities of Dundee.
We continued to work throughout the pandemic. Click on the button below to check our latest news.
We really need more tenant members on our committee and actively involved in our consultations. If you wish to find out more, just get in touch and we can have a chat.
